I can’t believe I’m putting our bathroom on the inter-webs But here goes.
We are FINALLY ready to start on the bathroom remodel Why we saved this project for last I don’t know. I do know – money and its going to be a total pain in the ass as its our only bathroom in the house. Casey seems completely fine with crapping in a Home Depot bucket (I promise I won’t brine the turkey in that one next year) I on the other hand will be crashing at my parents during the nitty-gritty of this remodel.
You know how sometimes you don’t realize how bad things are because you’ve been living with it for so long? For example, you have a tooth ache you’re just living with until it finally becomes unbearable and the dentist declares you now need dentures because you’ve let it get so out of control. That’s how I feel about our bathroom. It’s bad people. There’s a hole in the wall behind the vanity where shower water leaks down the wall into said hole. And my hair dryer plug doesn’t fit in the socket because of our make shift vanity and mirror situation, so I have to use an extender which over heats and turns my hairdryer off every 2 minutes. One day I will be electrocuted.
Casey already started on our new storage cupboard, which explains the giant hole in the wall (the brown storage cupboard used to be there). See the other thing is this bathroom is extremely small with no storage. While it will stay extremely small, we have some solutions for the lack of storage with the new cubby/storage closet we’re making behind the toilet. You’ll notice its totally off centered, that’s because there’s a pipe behind the wall on the right hand side – but I have an idea to hide the cupboard door so it will look nice, but still be a very functional storage solution for us.
So without further ado, here is the beginning of the great bathroom remodel!
Stay tuned for the progress 🙂
To Do List:
- Tear out ceiling to replace fan and add lighting. Also need to remove any mold in the ceiling above shower. (that happens this weekend)
- Replace tub, vanity, toilet & fixtures
- Replace floor
- Add tongue and groove boards around bathroom (idea to hide the new cupboard)
- New tile for shower
- New mirror and lighting above
Think that about covers it!
