I’ve been loving on stump side tables at some of my fav hot spots like West Elm and Crate and Barrel and thought to myself, self, you could do that and they are jerks for charging 400 for a hunk of wood. The hardest part of this project was finding a stump. With the help of a friend from work who has an arborist for a boyfriend I snagged one for free! He even delivered, mucho awesome!
Here’s the beauty that showed up in my driveway one day.
After acquiring the log I did nothing, for almost 5 months. No, not out of laziness, but it has to dry out, f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Then I peeled off the bark, sanded it down and painted on a couple coats of poly, sanding in between coats. Casey also did some chainsaw handy work to level out the top and bottom.
